'Twas a close game, friends! ORF pulled off one last regular season win, but not without difficulty. It was a fight throughout; all the way to hard cap. Alas, we ended up on top, defeating Beauty and the GEEKS 17-16.
We traded points the entire game. Despite them coming on strong and staying strong, we kept it together and didn't back down. Even though there were points where not much was said among ourselves, we kept our chins up and stayed in the fight. Everyone on the team put forth great effort and ground it out.
It was a real challenge preventing their long game. We stumbled trying to figure out how to prevent Mr. Sub Zero from beating us deep while at the same time keeping him from being a handling threat. Another difficult part was avoiding throwing within range of the ever-poaching Vu.
Unfortunately, this was one of the chippiest games we've ever played in this league, due to the attitude of the short-haired, short-tempered, purple-shirted jerk. As we witnessed first-hand, it only takes one person like that to ruin the spirit of an entire game. His lack of spirit was not only unbelievable, but started to rub off on us, as retaliatory calls and comments started to leak out. And just like after the first game we played against this team earlier in the season, the jerk sat in his chair rather than getting in line to shake hands over a good game. That being said, the rest of their team kept a good attitude for the most part, so we shouldn't let the one bad apple spoil the whole bunch.
Despite the spirit of the game, we were able to count it toward another lossless regular season! Ours is the only team (out of 42) with a 7-0 record. Excellent job, folks! Playing awesome D and making some terrific throws and catches earned Jon Stenseth MVP of the game. -Aaron |
